Congratulations to all of our students for the way they came back to school after the extended lockdown. It is lovely to see such happy faces and students really wanting to come to school. The preparation that all staff put in before the resumption of all classes has ensured that children feel supported and have remained happy. A great big thank you to the teachers who kept the learning going remotely for such a long period of time, they had to be resourceful and creative. Thank you for your support in the return to school and the limitations that have been put on schools.
A news alert was sent out earlier today outlining the things we will be able to do for the remainder of the term. There have been only very minor changes that take place from Monday. Unfortunately, restrictions will have an impact on end of year events. We will do our best to ensure that students and parents do not miss out, we just need to be creative in our modifications.
Christamas Art Competition
This year the art competition has looked very different. Congratulations to all of the students from Stage 3 who took part and to Mrs White & Ms Wilson who mentored the students through the process. The work of six of our students was photographed and sent down for selection into the competition, they have been included with the newsletter for your viewing, I am sure you will agree that they are outstanding. From all of entries, 39 artworks have been chosen to be a part of the virtual exhibition, four of our students have been chosen for this. Congratulations to Sophie, Noah, Claire and Elsie. We look forward to seeing the virtual opening and awards night on Youtube from 7pm on Wednesday 27 October. The link to this event will be made available on Monday 22 November.
Video resource for parents: supporting your teen's mental health
Next Thursday evening at 7 pm I will be hosting a Zoom session that is particularly aimed at parents of Stage 3 and for any parents who already have teenagers, however it is open to everyone. This Zoom entails a 40-minute video that has been developed by the CEO in collaboration with CatholicCare staff, to provide CEDoW parents with some basic information relating to teen mental health.
Topics covered include:
- Prevalence of teen mental health concerns
- What is happening in the brain during teen years?
- Tips on helping your teen regulate their emotions
- How to start conversations with teens about their mental health
- When and where to seek professional help for mental health concerns
- What else can parents do to support teens?
- How can schools support teen mental health?
Here is a promo for the video. Parent Webinar promotion clip 30 seconds
I will send out a separate alert with the Zoom link so that you are able to find it easily.
