Last Saturday we celebrated the feast of Mary’s Assumption into heaven. She was a model disciple open to God’s grace. The feast celebrates the special place that Mary has in the life of the Church. This place is first of all defined by her being chosen to be the mother of Jesus. By her assumption we can understand that Mary, because of the dignity of her motherhood and her own personal submission to God’s will at every stage of her life, takes precedence over everyone in the sharing of God’s glory.
The Gospel tells the story of Mary’s visitation to her cousin, Elizabeth, when both were expecting their first child. Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, calls Mary the Mother of my Lord and Mary responds with the beautiful hymn, the Magnificat, the hymn of praise. Because of her assumption Mary can be called queen of heaven and earth. Mary’s greatness was not just in being chosen to be Jesus’ mother but in her total acceptance of that responsibility in faith and trust, accepting blindly all that it might entail. And, indeed, she had no idea the price she would have to pay to be the mother of Jesus. But she had emptied herself in total service to him. She was assumed into heaven because of the privilege she enjoyed as the Mother of God and the fact that she was totally sinless and she was rewarded by God for this act.
COVID Updates
Earlier this week you would have received information regarding some updates due to directives that have been put in place to further protect school communities. I would like to congratulate all of the families that collect children at the earlier 2:50 side gate dismissal for the way you promptly collect your children and move off. Just a reminder to social distance outside whilst you are waiting.
To further help us out we ask that any treats sent in for birthdays are sealed, store purchased products. Individually wrapped items like Freddo Frogs are ideal. Students also need to have their own belongings such as pencils, as these can no longer be shared. For our younger students, could you also please ensure that anything you send in for lunches can be opened by your child to prevent staff from touching your children’s food items.
Thank you for your understanding in these matters, we just want everyone in our community to remain safe.
Parish News
Just a reminder that there is a slight change to our timetable, Mass will be Wednesday and Thursday morning at 7.30 am (to allow Father Sean time to get to Ingleburn for 9.30 am Mass).
Sacrament of Reconciliation will be offered from 4.15 - 4.45 pm on Saturday.
Reminder - Confirmation
If you have any students who are in Year 6 and are wishing to be confirmed this year, you will need to attend Mass on the weekend of 29 August to register. If you have already registered for Confirmation, remember to get your name marked off after Mass. You will still need to follow the links on the parish website www.ccsh.org.au to register for any of the weekend Masses.
Parish raffle
The drawing of the raffle for the car has, for obvious reasons, been deferred to early 2021, but tickets remain on sale. Please visit our website www.ccsh.org.au to buy tickets. An ideal Christmas gift perhaps!
Have a lovely week, stay safe and warm. Hopefully we will get some of that snow on the weekend!
Kind Regards
Kayleen Petzer
Dear Parishioners,
This weekend, I am celebrating the 4 Masses in Ingleburn. Thank you to Fr Stork who is filling in here in the Highlands. Fr Stork is well known to many of our parishioners, especially those from St Michael's. The priests from Macquarie Fields (Blessed Sacrament Fathers) are helping me for weekend Masses at Ingleburn, so I will probably only spend one weekend per month there.
Locally, in a few weeks I will be able to share with you some great news for our parish as we move into 2021. Stay tuned!!
Our parish registration for Mass is going very well, but could I just remind you again it is best to register through the website (www.ccsh.org.au ) or parish office rather than just turn up. The number of people we allow into the Church must be strictly monitored. Also, on the flip side, if you have registered but are unable to attend, please contact the Kate at the office or leave a message so your spot can be reallocated.
Financially, like everyone else we have suffered severely, so please keep up your support. Direct debit is the easiest way to contribute. If you would like to donate this way, please contact Kate at the Office.
Have a safe week ahead.
With God's blessings.
Fr Sean
At STA we have three very important school rules:
At STA we have a uniform code to follow. When we are wearing the correct uniform we are representing our school with pride, respect and showing fairness to all students and staff.
Remember to:
- Wear Black Leather shoes with full school uniform.
- Wear mostly white joggers on sports days.
Remember pride in the uniform is a thing!
Act respectfully and wear the uniform correctly.

At STA we follow the rules of the game we are playing.
- Use all the equipment correctly.
- Check the posters around the school or check with a teacher if you are not sure.
- Use kind and respectful words and voice when sorting out a problem in a game. Always use your manners.
- Hands on, tackling and contact sport is NEVER allowed at STA. This is the rule for EVERYONE, every single day.
- Safe and respectful play is not about winning or losing, or if you are in or out.
Just be a good sport and have fun with your friends. Watch these videos about respect.
Remember to follow the STA rules during play.
Stay Safe and Act Respectfully every single day.

Book Week
Due to COVID-19, The Children’s Book Council of Australia was postponed until this term.
This year’s theme is “Curious Creatures and Wild Minds”, which could describe many characters from our favourite literature. Like most things this year, Book Week will look very different than how we normally celebrate this special event on our school calendar. The students will still get to read and enjoy all the fabulous short-listed books during their weekly library lessons.
Next Friday 23 October (Week 2) the students are invited to come dressed to school as a ‘Wild Creature’. On this day the students will have a ‘mini morning parade’ with their stage and then participate in some fun activities based on the theme in the classrooms.
- Your child is able to order a "Wild Creature" cupcake for morning tea on this day for $3.00. Can you please complete the order by clicking on the link
I’m sure we will a fun day!
