Welcome back to school for 2020. I hope everyone managed to have a lovely Christmas, and a chance to get some rest, which would have been difficult with the stress of the fires in our local area. We welcome our many new families to the school, we hope that you find new friends quickly and feel at home.
Our country has truly shown its contrasts over the last few weeks, with bushfires, heat waves, storms and floods. Please keep all of those people that have been affected by these natural disasters in your prayers, especially the families who have lost their homes and loved ones. A big thank you to all who were able to donate and help out with our appeal for the fires in our local area during the holidays. Your donations were able to support many fire stations and people at the evacuation centre at Moss Vale showground. St. Vincent de Paul have also been keeping in touch to let me know that they have helped many families with the supplies and vouchers. The rebuilding process is going to take a long time in many areas. You are still able to donate to this cause through St Vincent de Paul.
The Catholic Education Office has put together many resources to help support families and I encourage you to look at the following link, if you wish to find out ways community organisations can support people impacted by the fires. Attached are some other resources to assist you in speaking to your children about the bushfires.

Helping children who have been affected by bushfires
If you do have any concerns about your child, please do not hesitate to contact our school office.
The good news is that, as at 8pm Wednesday night, the Green Wattle Creek Fire that has been burning for months is now under control. The weather this weekend is going to be extreme so please take care.
Let us keep in our prayers, all those who have helped our community in so many ways. We continue to also pray for those who have been affected by bushfire and the ongoing drought.
We pray for those who lives and livelihoods have been and are continuing to be affected by fires.
Lord hear us.
We pray for those who have lost homes and businesses, for those who were scared and have been traumatized by their experience, comfort and heal them in body, mind and spirit and give them hope of restoration.
Lord hear us.
We give thanks for the selfless service of all emergency service personnel. Grant them protection in danger and strengthen them physically and psychologically for the ongoing demands put upon them.
Lord Hear us.
We give thanks for all who are caring for the victims of the disasters, for the emergency response teams, service providers, the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul Society, local churches and community groups, chaplains, and all those assisting at all levels of government, local, state and federal. Guide them in their labour and give wisdom that those who have suffered loss may get the care and support they need.
