Year 3
Year 5 Blue
The following samples are from a geography task. The students were allocated an authentic text to read about a topic. In small groups, they underlined key words and phrases in the text. After that, they jointly constructed a topic sentence and a concluding sentence on a Single Paragraph outline. They experimented with note taking to record notes on their SPO and they then used their SPO to reconstruct a paragraph of their own. Students were challenged to include appositives in their topic sentences and they had also been focusing on the use of transition words.
